While many were still enjoying their last few hours of sleep this past Friday, the Transworld Denver team rose early to make the nearly 2-hour trek to Leadville, Colorado where Mount Sherman resides. There were 20 attendees in total the morning of the hike, between the Transworld staff and community members. The hike began promptly at 8 AM on a cool and slightly cloudy morning, with the first team of four ascending the trail. Hikers carried with them plenty of water and rain gear just in case, a few attendees even brought their camel backs on the hike. Adding to the excitement of the event was the attendance of Andrew Cagnetta, the Owner and CEO (since 1997) of Transworld Business Advisors, LLC!
The charity event, which is in its second year, was a true success in every sense of the word. Multiple hikers experienced their first hike up a fourteener, nearly $3,319.10 was raised for Junior Achievement - Rocky Mountain (JA-Rocky Mountain) and fun was had by all who attended. Speaking of the success of the hike was Matt Prescott, an Associate Broker with Transworld Denver, who said, ?This was my first fourteener hike and I am so glad I made the decision to do this. Not only do I feel like I really accomplished something this Friday morning, but I was able to support a great cause within my community.?
Donations toward the event are still being accepted by the website (https://secure.qgiv.com/event/ja-charity-ascent/) until 8/21/16. JA-Rocky Mountain will be using the funds raised to support programming during their 2016-2017 school year. This programming will enhance students in-school learning experience with workshops aimed at delivering work readiness tools as well as entrepreneurship and financial literacy support to almost 130,000 Denver metro area students. At the completion of the event it was obvious JA-Rocky Mountain values the support of Transworld Denver when Ellie Jordan, Special Events Manager with JA-Rocky Mountain, said this:
"JA-Rocky Mountain is grateful to Transworld Business Advisors for developing and leading the Charity Ascent, a unique fundraiser. With Transworld Business Advisors' help, JA-Rocky Mountain is able to reach K-12 students across Colorado and Southern Wyoming. Third party research has proven that JA programs change students' perceptions of themselves and their worlds in a way that helps them become more successful as adults. We couldn't do what we do without the support of business leaders like Transworld."
Moving forward Transworld Denver is excited to continue to partner with JA-Rocky Mountain as their nonprofit of choice and hopes they inspired members of the Denver community to get involved and help support the success of local students.
