The Restaurant Industry is Shining in Texas!

The Michelin Guide has officially arrived in Texas, sparking excitement across the Lone Star State. Nowhere is the enthusiasm more palpable than in Houston, where the Texas 2024 Michelin Guide ceremony lit up the 713 Music Hall, spotlighting some of the city’s finest culinary treasures.

The accolades largely celebrated Texas' major cities, with Austin narrowly outpacing Houston in the prestigious One Star category, boasting seven One-Star restaurants compared to Houston's six. Meanwhile, the Bib Gourmand honors were awarded across both large and smaller establishments in the Houston area, further showcasing the city's dining diversity. In total, 15 restaurants across Texas earned a Michelin One Star, and two in Austin received the coveted MICHELIN Green Star for sustainable practices. Altogether, 117 restaurants throughout the state were recognized for culinary excellence, representing a diverse range of flavors.

Gwendal Poullenec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, commended Texas’s unique blend of culinary styles. "The selection reflects their findings by highlighting uniquely Texas flavors, such as Barbecue and Tex-Mex, as well as several international influences. We are very honored to welcome these restaurants to the MICHELIN Guide family for the first time and we toast to the tremendous spirit of the Texas restaurant community."

Spotlight on Houston’s Michelin Honorees

Houston’s restaurant scene showed up strong, with BCN Taste and Tradition awarded a star for its exceptional Spanish fare, crafted under the guidance of Ignacio Torras. Corkscrew BBQ earned praise for its smoked brisket and beef ribs, and Le Jardinier at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston dazzled inspectors with its art-inspired seasonal dishes led by Chef Felipe Botero. Meanwhile, MARCH won accolades for its innovative regional menus, and Musaafer captivated inspectors with Indian cuisine in an ambiance inspired by global travels.

In the Bib Gourmand category, Houston claimed 17 honorees—more than any other Texas city. Bib Gourmand celebrates restaurants offering exceptional food at an accessible price, with Houston hotspots like Nancy's Hustle, The Pit Room, and Truth BBQ earning well-deserved mentions.
